I photographed Rebecca’s maternity and newborn session a couple of months ago, and the images were featured at the Fount Collective, a beautifully curated motherhood blog. These sessions were a true honor. I’d love to share some of the info behind it here as was featured on Fount Collective.
From Rebecca:
“As I look at these photos, I see so much peace and joy in my family. I’m so grateful to have this season in our family’s life captured in photos so that we can always remember these emotions. We lost four little lives before I became pregnant with Vincent and for much of my pregnancy I didn’t think I’d ever hold him in my arms. Just a month before I found out we were pregnant we started the process to adopt. That positive pregnancy test was difficult. I was so afraid to lose another child. Those losses taught me that my children are only in my care for a short period of time. I have the opportunity to nurture and love them, and I need to make the best of that time, however short it is.
For the first week of Vincent’s life I cried and thanked God countless times. The gratitude I experienced was so overwhelming. These photos will always remind me of that overwhelming joy and gratitude. I hope I can hold on to it even on the toughest of days. One year ago, I never would have guessed that I would be birthing a child.
And from my perspective:
“Rebecca is also a photographer, so we met a few years ago through the wedding industry. We started trading family sessions during the holidays about three years ago. I had my second baby girl almost two years ago in 2018, and Rebecca photographed my family while I was pregnant and once baby Rio arrived. I knew Rebecca wanted to add to her family, and I looked forward to the day when I could repay the favor she did for my family.
Being a mom myself, I know now that anticipation of waiting for a baby, whether it’s your first or second time. Pregnancy can sometimes be uncomfortable -your body is changing every day. But it’s such an incredible thing you are doing and I think even with all those crazy changes (swollen feet, anyone?!) there’s always a level of gratitude and excitement I see in the moms I get to photograph. I love capturing that special moment for families. It’s really just such a sweet time. Once a baby does arrive, everything feels so different and new. There’s a magical element a baby brings into a home, and I love getting to capture that as well. With Rebecca, I knew how much this moment meant to her and her family. They hoped for this day for a long time, so it was really meaningful to get to witness and document it.”
I’ll share some images on my blog soon, but for now you can check out the feature here.
